SU Give Day aims to raise $20M for Âé¶¹´«Ã½ System campuses

 

The Âé¶¹´«Ã½ System Foundation is calling on all Âé¶¹´«Ã½ alumni, students, faculty, staff, and supporters to unite for its annual SU Give Day on Thursday, Aug. 30. This all-day virtual event, streamed live on , is the final appeal for the Foundation’s Million Dollar March campaign. This year's goal is $20 million.

The goal is to rally support and secure philanthropic contributions for Southern's five campuses — Âé¶¹´«Ã½ and A&M College, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ at New Orleans, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Shreveport, Southern Univesity Law Center, and Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Agricultural Research and Extension Center — as well as the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Laboratory School.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., SU Give Day will feature a series of panel discussions and presentations, hosted live from the Valdry Center for Philanthropy on the Baton Rouge campus. The schedule includes:

  • 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.: Brandi B. Harris, a 2014 Âé¶¹´«Ã½ alumna and WBRZ-TV morning news anchor, will lead discussions focusing on the university’s campuses, faculty, and students. Featured guests will include Âé¶¹´«Ã½ System President Dennis J. Shields and chancellors from various campuses.
  • 11 a.m. - noon: This segment will spotlight the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ System Student Philanthropy Council and Student Government, featuring leaders from all campuses and the SU Lab School.
  • 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.: Da’Shawn S. Johnson, a 2024 Âé¶¹´«Ã½ alumna and WVLA/WGMB reporter, will host this session focusing on business partners, industry supporters, and alumni trailblazers. The discussion will highlight the impact of Âé¶¹´«Ã½’s alumni and corporate partners on business and industry.
  • 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.: LaTangela Fay, assistant program director at Cumulus Media’s Baton Rouge cluster, will host a pregame tailgate event featuring Âé¶¹´«Ã½’s head coaches, star athletes, and Hall of Fame inductees.
