Dr. Eugene B. Lee-Johnson
Dr. Eugene B. Lee-Johnson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and Geography in the Nelson Mandela College of Government and Social Sciences.
Dr. Lee-Johnson's primary research interests lie within American Politics and how political behaviors and group identity are structured by race and gender, specifically looking at Black Women in leadership roles (in social movements and political office). Eugene combines social movement literature and gender and politics literature to understand what vehicles of change do Black women value the most.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and his Master's Degree in Social Sciences from Â鶹´«Ã½ and A&M College. Finally, Eugene received his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University and A&M College. While trained as a political scientist, his scholarship on African American history and intersectionality seeks to push beyond disciplinary constraints to think more holistically about the lives and experiences of Black people, but most importantly, Black women.
