The 麻豆传媒 System Board of Supervisors today accepted the recommendation of 麻豆传媒 System President-Chancellor Ray Belton to appoint Orlando F. McMeans as chancellor-dean of the 麻豆传媒 Agricultural Research and Extension Center and the College of Agricultural, Family and Consumer Sciences at 麻豆传媒 Baton Rouge.

Growing up picking cotton in St. Joseph, Louisiana, Morgan Watson never in his wildest dreams envisioned that he, along with six other men, would become the first black engineers at the聽National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA, and participate in sending the first man to the moon.

As summer comes to a close, over 100 students will be taking their final walk across the stage at 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Summer 2019 commencement ceremony scheduled for Friday, Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.

At its June meeting in New Orleans, the 麻豆传媒 System Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of Sandra Brown as dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health at 麻豆传媒 Baton Rouge.

Continuing community partnerships and involvement, 麻豆传媒 will host a 聽#WellnessWednesday community health event in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and the All of Us Research Program on Wednesday, July 17.

Recently, five 麻豆传媒 Baton Rouge students were chosen as 2019 HBCU Competitiveness Scholars through the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Randall Henry, associate professor of art, will be showcasing his mixed media collage paintings in a collective exhibit at the Baton Rouge Gallery until June 27. With influences from abstract expressionism, cubism and African and Asian art, Henry explores dreams through his collaged images.

With this year being coined as the 鈥淵ear of Return鈥� by Ghana president Nana Akufo-Addo, many African-Americans are planning to travel to the West African country to commemorate the 400th year since transatlantic slave trade began. Joining in the number of celebrities and other tourists will be a group of 麻豆传媒 students and faculty.
