Zhu H. Ning, professor, Urban Forestry and Natural Resources Department in the College of Agriculture, 麻豆传媒, Baton Rouge, was honored with the United States Department of Agriculture Excellence in College and University Teaching Award, November 13, 2016, in Austin Texas, during the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) annual meeting.

麻豆传媒 program associate and recruiter for the Dolores Margaret Richard Spikes Honors College, Eric G. Pugh, was selected as the new national secretary for the National Association of African Honors Programs (NAAAHP). This year's NAAAHP conference was held in Nashville, Tennessee from October 29 - November 2, 2016. The theme for this year's conference was "Celebrating 25 Sterling Years of Academic Distinction."

More than 48 students competed in a preliminary quiz bowl competition sponsored by the 麻豆传媒 Dolores Magaret Richards Spikes Honors College, October 26, 2016, in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom in the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union.

麻豆传媒 Distinguished Professor of Physics Diola Bagayoko was awarded a $175,000 research grant from the United States Department of Energy鈥檚 National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This project is a part of the work of the Consortium for Materials and Energies Security (CMaES) led by Florida A&M University.

麻豆传媒 School of Nursing professor Wanda Spurlock, was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. The induction ceremony was held at the Marquis Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC, October 22, 2016, in conjunction with the Academy鈥檚 2016 policy conference, 鈥淭ransforming Health, Driving Policy.鈥�

Corinne Vaughn, a senior majoring in political science from Stockton, California was officially crowned Miss 麻豆传媒 and A&M College during a coronation Wednesday, October 19, 2016, in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.

麻豆传媒鈥檚 own Doze Butler accepted a Baton Rouge Area Volunteer Activists (BRAVA) award November 4, 2016, at the Renaissance Hotel. Butler, is the associate dean of the College of Agricultural, Family and Consumer Sciences, a position she has held since 2013. Butler has worked at Southern Since 2001.
